A New Light on Mid-Century Modern

Portland, OR – In May 2015, Hotel Eastlund will open in the Eastside of downtown Portland. Portland-based architectural firm Holst Architecture designed the hotel with a modern, yet classic atmosphere that plays on mid-century modern themes and the flattering contrast of vivid orange and earth tones across pristine white.

Throughout Hotel Eastlund, floor-to-ceiling windows provide generous natural light as well as spectacular panoramic views of the downtown Portland skyline and the growing Eastside. A spacious lobby welcomes guests to unwind or work, with high speed Internet and on-site printing services.

Holst Architecture is a Portland-based firm founded by Jeffrey Stuhr and John T. Holmes in 1992. The firm creates innovative buildings tailored to each client’s needs, while expressing the highest environmental, social, and aesthetic ideals. Holst works with a variety of industries across the country, including hospitality, commercial office, higher education, and multi-family. Recent and notable Holst projects include Ziba Design Headquarters, Hotel Modera, Bud Clark Commons, Glisan Commons and Ride Connection headquarters, Karuna House, Sawyer’s Row, and projects for Lewis & Clark College.

Hotel Eastlund is the latest project by Northwest-based Grand Ventures Hotel, LLC. The group is recognized for re-developing hotel properties with sleek, modern design, advanced technology, and destination restaurants in partnership with celebrity chefs. Former Grand Ventures Hotel projects include Portland’s Hotel Modera and Seattle’s Hotel Andra and Hotel Deca. Local chef David Machado will open Altabira City Tavern and Citizen Baker at Hotel Eastlund.

Hotel Eastlund is positioned to be the centerpiece of one of Portland’s fastest developing neighborhoods. The Eastside location offers convenient access to downtown, Portland International Airport (PDX) and public transportation. Both the MAX Light Rail and Portland Streetcar have stops adjacent to hotel.
