Holiday Shopping in Downtown Portland

Downtown’s Eastside is a ‘Can’t Miss’ Shopping Area

Portland, OR – The thriving Eastside of downtown Portland is close to a bounty of shopping destinations, from Lloyd Center Mall to Pioneer Square. Holiday shoppers will find large department stores, like Nordstrom and Macy’s, popular retail outlets, and local boutique shops, all in proximity to the Oregon Convention Center.

Plus, when it’s time to take a break from a long day of retail therapy, shoppers can relax in a wide array of cafes, bars, and restaurants in the neighborhood. When Hotel Eastlund opens its doors, in May 2015, chef David Machado’s beer-centric Altabira City Tavern and his new bakery/cafe/wine bar concept Citizen Baker can be added to the area’s growing list of foodie destinations.

Once the shopping day is over, downtown Portland boasts amazing holiday events and entertainment throughout December. The staff at Hotel Eastlund is particularly excited about The Santaland Diaries at Portland Center Stage (Nov. 23 – Dec. 28) and The Nutcracker, performed by the Oregon Ballet Theatre at Keller Auditorium (Dec. 13-27). Of course, we also have a weakness for The Great Figgy Pudding Caroling Competition in Pioneer Courthouse Square on Friday, December 12 from 5:30-7:30pm. Warm up the vocal cords and get in the holiday spirit with some of the most spirited voices in the area!

Everyone at Hotel Eastlund would like to wish you and yours a happy and safe holiday season. We hope the new year brings you all that you hope for… and a luxurious stay at Hotel Eastlund (opening May 2015).
